In the summer of 2004 Pastor Mary Savage Gunther met with Dr. Coleman Briggs to discuss the possibility of opening a school in the Ellenville area. After much prayer and consideration, Dr. Briggs agreed to a satellite of the Newburgh Bible Institute.

 

• In September 2004 the first class was held and Pastor Gunther was the first instructor of General Bible One.  Each year after God blessed us to continue the study of His Word. ​

• In 2009 with the assistance of Administrator DollyAnn Briggs and Dr. Coleman Briggs the Ellenville Bible Institute became a reality.​

• Pastor Mary Gunther was the first Dean/founder. The first instructors were Rev. Alvin Gunther, GB1; Rev. Melody Barksdale, GB2, Rev. Inez VanDyke, Undergraduate, Rev. David Laws, Bachelors Class and Rev. Mary Gunther, Masters Class Instructor.

• The first Administrator was Kristen Graham, with Christopher Pearson as the Thesis and Chapel Tutor.​

• Twenty-three students enrolled in the September 2009 class.  Only two did not remain for graduation.  The first Commencement Address was given by Rev. Dr. Coleman Briggs.​

• In 2013 ten students graduated with two moving into the Master’s Program.  Although enrollment had decreased for the class of 2014 the enthusiasm for studying God’s Word had not withered.  Students continue to hunger and thirst for wisdom and understanding.​

• In 2014 with the help of the Lord EBI initiated a “Children’s Class” for students who want to attend school and do not have sitters at home.  The first Children’s Instructor was Loretta Artusa .​

• In 2015 the first class was held in the Middletown Satellite at the Family Christian Life Deliverance Ministries.  ​

• In 2016 the Lord redeemed our Beloved Rev. Alvin D. Gunter, Sr. from labor to reward.  To this day he is solely missed as things get “Gooder and Gooder”.

• In 2019 we faced the worldwide COVID 19 Pandemic and was forced to shut down. Until we could continue our classes in person the students attended virtually.  Praise God for technology and Deacon Christopher Pearson.  Classes were held by zoom.​

Through it all we congratulate our students and give thanks to God for our dedicated staff who stayed the course rightly dividing the Word of Truth.
