As we begin to see 2026 a little more clearly and quickly getting closer, we have been reflecting on how much God has done in 2025 and pondering what comes next.
This week Pastor Mary Gunther again delivered a sermon that was filled with expectation and a call to action to do what needs to be done without hesitation or procrastination. This week's sermon is titled "Don't Hesitate, Initiate!”.
Scriptures:
Malachi 3:10
Joshua 18:1-3
Matthew 28:18-20
Galatians 6:9
Genesis 13
Past mistakes, failures, faults, and desires are now left behind. The Earth is groaning for the coming of the Lord, and we must be about our Father’s business. Be strong, obey, and study the Word; these are the benchmarks of success, and we must not hesitate or procrastinate in doing such things. Who will be the one to carry out the task?
Pastor Gunther spoke about the story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody. There was an important job to be done, and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry aboutthat, because it was Everybody’s job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have.
When we are asked why we saw and did nothing by hesitating or procrastinating, we quickly defend ourselves with every excuse in the book. “Nobody asked me.”, “That was not my job.”, “That is above my paygrade.” The fact is that if we see something that needs to be done, it is our responsibility to just do it. God asks, and we do. Our hesitation is a form of disobedience. If we do as we are told, we will be successful in claiming all of our blessings. It took Joshua from chapter 13 to chapter 18 to possess the land and still by hesitation and procrastination seven regions had still not been taken. When you see the need to do something, do it for the Lord.
It is our commission to go into all nations and not just for a little while. We are not to become slack; we are to harvest. If we grow faint, we will not reap and there will be no harvest in our storehouse. Do not hesitate, initiate! Take the first step to assume responsibility over the problems that you see. God shows us what is not done so that we can step up and step into action to fill the need. Hesitation and procrastination make us slack. Take the first step and God will do the rest.
There is a new year coming with new challenges and new opportunities. Step into this new year with determination. Be strong, obey the Lord, and study the Word. Be strong and courageous. There are things to do, if you cannot help me, do not block me. We have the responsibility to make things better.
