We must meditate on God’s word in the same manner. We must take it daily and then “sit in the sun” and "chew” on it repeatedly.

What a wonderful visit we had this week with Reverend Annie Greene! It was a blessing to have her preach for us once again. She is always ready and willing to step up and give a sermon when asked even when it is unexpected. She is a shining example of what it means to be prepared to give your reason for your Christian faith (1Peter 3:15).

Scriptures:

Joshua 1:1-9

Joshua 1:6-9 (focus)

Matthew 5:13

Joshua 1:2

Psalm 1:2-3

James 1:22; 25

Hebrews 13:5

Hebrews 13:8

Isaiah 40:31

In true fashion Reverend Annie Greene began with getting right down to the business of God’s word reminding us that “fake news” is not God’s word. Sometimes we get discouraged and worry but God’s word commands us to be strong and of good courage. Jesus never failed and His Word will not depart from us.

Reverend Greene spoke of adding too much salt when we are cooking and the ways we try to get rid of the salty taste. You can add something to water it down, add more ingredients to try to attempt toning it down the salty taste, but it never totally goes away. It will always have a taste of salt. She then reminded us that despite circumstances and what is happening around us we are the salt and we cannot be watered down and no matter what the world tries to add, we will always be the salt of the Earth. Therefore, we must stand!

We mourn our losses, things we lose, and our circumstances will change with the loss and none of that changes God’s Word. In verse two after 30 days of mourning God stated, “Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all his people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.” Moses might be dead, but God’s word did not change. They still were to cross the Jordan with or without Moses.

She then told us that when she was younger, she would see cows laying in the field resting in the sun, not eating grass but always chewing on their cud. We must meditate on God’s word in the same manner. We must take it daily and then “sit in the sun” and "chew” on it repeatedly. Then we have to act on what He has already prepared for us.

God commands us to be strong, be of good courage, don't be dismayed or afraid He is with us wherever we go. He will not leave or forsake us. As the Word was yesterday, it is the same today, and it will not change tomorrow. Like an eagle flap its wings until it is caught up in the wind and can soar, we too should be caught up in God until we can soar in and with His Word.
