Every day is a good day to hear the Word of God but there is something special about hearing it with the Body of Christ from a loving Pastor.

We are blessed each time that Reverend Mary Gunther, Pastor of our church brings us the Word through a sermon titled What Must We Do With Jesus?

Scriptures:

Matthew 27:22

Matthew 27:15

Deutoronomy 21:6-9

Genesis 2:16

Deutoronomy 30:19

Jeremiah 17:9

We all come to a point in our life when, like Pilot, we must decide what we will do with Jesus in our lives. Every day we make small decisions without great affect or consequence, what we will eat, how we will dress or even who or what we will spend time with and what we will do. We are still called to understand that each decision changes not only our life but the lives around us, and we are all judged based on the outcome of those decisions.

Pilot's decision about Jesus was grounded on the belief that if he could somehow shirk his responsibility, dimmish his role or even blame it on other persuasions or desires he could symbolically and literally wash his hands of the whole situation. We do this ourselves by blaming others and even excusing ourselves from responsibility by giving in to a governing authority. When it comes to Jesus being neutral is not an option. There is no middle ground with Jesus, you are either with Him, or you are against Him.

We will seek any tradition of man we can find to justify our responsibility in crucifying Jesus repeatedly by our disobedience to God and to go against His Word. We must begin to ask ourselves will we grieve the Holy Spirit? Will God be pleased with our choices, decisions and actions? We must begin to consider how our decision affect Jesus.

In the garden of Eden there were two trees and there was a choice to make. It was an exercise of our free will to choose between obeying or disobeying, right or wrong. Deuteronomy 30:19 could not be any clearer in not only what our two choices are, life or death, but gives us the answer in stating in simple words, CHOOSE LIFE! (emphasis is the writers).

The bible calls us to open it, read it and then do it. We must stop looking for a way out. We must stop washing our hands with the excuse "God knows my heart." Pastor concluded with the original question; "What will you do with Jesus?"
